Fresh sardines from the Portuguese coast, immediately canned by La Gondola in Matosinhos, north of Porto, and preserved in olive oil with tomatoes and Piri-piri, the famous Portuguese condiment made from small peppers.
What I like

My little tip: A best-before date is always indicated on the cans, but sardines in olive oil can be stored for several years as they improve with age. The cans should be turned regularly.
