The swallow (Andorinha) is now an icon of national folklore and an object present in all Portuguese homes. It is used outdoors on a facade as well as indoors on a wall.

This swallow comes from a small workshop located between Caldas da Rainha and Obidos in the Central-West of Portugal, in the province of Estremadura. The molds used there are passed down from generation to generation, and the owner of the workshop today uses his grandfather's molds. All pieces are made entirely by hand there.
