Beautiful brass pendant reproducing the shapes of the famous "Coração de Viana" .This pendant is entirely handmade in the Cobres Cunha workshop in Barcelos in Northern Portugal. It comes with a cotton necklace.

The Cobres Cunha workshop was created in 1932 by João da Cunha Ferreira in front of the São José de Barcelos chapel.
Today, this traditional workshop still exists, has moved a few steps away and makes brass jewellery used as accessories by the designers of the Portuguese fashion week.
Brass is an alloy that has been used for hundreds of years to make bright, allergy-free and highly resistant ethnic jewellery.

The Heart of Viana (Coração de Viana) finds its origin in antiquity. It represented the centre of life, solidarity, fraternity, and love. The Coração de Viana later appeared in Portugal as an object of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Portuguese wore it on their breasts as a sacred symbol.

Brass is a metallic alloy composed of copper and zinc. This alloy has the particularity of not causing allergies and is very resistant. It is very easy to clean with soapy water and a soft cloth drying that gives it back its full shine.
