More informations?

The Hispano-Moorish style reached Portugal in the early 16th century, after King Manuel I’s travels to Seville. The first Portuguese azulejos were imported from Andalusian workshops and were known for their geometric and botanical motifs, as well as their raised lines designed to separate the glazed colours. Some of the finest examples can still be seen today at the Palace of Sintra.
