Xarão bitter almond liqueur is a sweet almond liqueur with a low alcohol content (16°). It is, perhaps, the most traditional liqueur in Portugal, made in the Algarve, in the south of Portugal.

It can be enjoyed as an aperitif, a digestif, or in a cocktail. In Portugal, it is frequently served very cold, with lemon juice and crushed ice.
