“A Jarra de Rufos” is a remarkable decorative piece where Portuguese ceramics meet the heritage of costume design and artisanal craftsmanship. Its elegant silhouette in glossy green earthenware contrasts beautifully with a dramatic beige Burel collar inspired by the ruffs worn during the 16th century.

The vase is crafted in glazed earthenware using the traditional immersion glazing technique, which gives the surface its rich depth and luminous finish. Around the neck, a specialised Portuguese artisan hand-shapes a collar in Burel, the thick and comforting wool traditionally used in the Portuguese mountains. Every fold is sewn by hand, creating a contemporary reinterpretation of historical baroque collars.

Placed on a console table, bookshelf or coffee table, this piece works both as a sculptural art object and as a striking decorative accent. The contrast between the softness of the textile and the brilliance of the ceramic immediately catches the eye. A bold and almost theatrical presence that perfectly reflects the creative spirit of contemporary Portuguese craftsmanship.
