“A Jarra de Rufos” is a distinctive decorative piece where Portuguese ceramics meet the history of costume design and traditional craftsmanship. Its understated silhouette in glossy red earthenware contrasts beautifully with a spectacular beige Burel collar inspired by the ruffs worn during the 16th century.

The vase is crafted in glazed earthenware using the traditional immersion glazing technique, giving the surface its rich and perfectly luminous finish. Around the neck, a specialised Portuguese artisan hand-shapes a collar in Burel, the thick and comforting wool traditionally used in the Portuguese mountains. Every fold is sewn by hand, like a contemporary interpretation of the dramatic baroque collars of the past.

Displayed alone on a console table, bookshelf or coffee table, this piece works equally well as an art object or as a striking decorative accent. It immediately draws attention through the balance between the softness of the textile and the brilliance of the glazed ceramic. A strong, almost theatrical presence that reflects today’s creative and artisanal Portugal.
