Beautiful replica of an authentic 17th-century Portuguese azulejo. This azulejo is made from real clay, glazed on one side and entirely hand-painted using traditional techniques that recreate the rich colour nuances of historical Portuguese tiles.

This tile is painted by an artisan who usually specialises in the restoration of antique azulejos.

A beautiful decorative object, it can be used as a paperweight, coaster or trivet, or framed and displayed on a wall. Resistant to humidity and temperature variations, it can also be assembled into decorative wall panels for indoor or outdoor use.

Why I love it

  • A faithful reproduction of a 17th-century Portuguese azulejo.
  • The delicacy of the painter’s hand, making each tile unique.
  • A traditional handcrafted production method preserved through generations.

    More informations?

"Padrão" azulejos appeared in Portugal at the beginning of the 17th century and are recognised for their geometric or botanical motifs. Their patterns are designed so that several tiles placed together create a larger decorative composition.

Their colours evolved from yellow and blue on white backgrounds in the early 17th century to deeper dark blue and turquoise tones towards the end of the century.
